I love the feeling of a plot twist, the comfort that you experience from assuming the destination of the plot is completely thrown out the window, and your left in a state of disarray and uncertainty. It is literally like riding a psychological roller coaster. Warning, this list does contain spoilers.

The Others
On the surface this movie looked like your typical haunted house story, Nicole Kidman and her kids where living in a very large Victorian style house, when they experience haunting of some sort. This actually plays all the way to the end, and then we come to find out that…They are actually the ghost haunting the house. There were a lot of clues though, like the fog surrounding the house making them have to stay on the estate grounds, or the husband/father who was supposedly in the war, came in through the fog and left one day (He Was Killed in Action).

Primal Fear
Great court room thriller, Richard Gere plays a criminal lawyer defending a choir boy (played by Edward Norton) who killed his preacher. The whole movie was just a roller coaster because the story of the defendant kept changing due to the new evidence, which made Gere consistently change his defence strategy. It went from a second person being in the room while the crime was taking place to finally a split personality making Norton plead insanity which he won. At the end of the movie we find out that there was no split personality and Norton planned it all himself.

Basic
Not a lot of people liked this movie, but I thought it was pretty good. The surface plot is pretty Basic, a group of rangers who were lead by sergeant West (Samuel L. Jackson) are sent into the jungle on a training mission but things go terrible wrong. The movie then introduces Osbourne and Hardy (John Travolta), trying to interrogate the group of rangers to find out what really happened. It seemed as if the training mission was just a front for drug smuggling and the story kept going back and forth on who was involved and if West had orchestrated it. The twist occurs when Osbourne suspects Hardy of being the one who actually planned the drug smuggling, but by following him, she finds out that all the rangers are alive including sergeant West, and that the rangers are actually a secret drug enforcement organization.

Perfect Stranger
This movie is fairly new and it stars sexy Halle Berry. The movie follows Halle as she tries to incriminate her friends killer who is a top ad agency executive played by Bruce Willis, this movie actually really threw me off, not because it was completely impossible, but as the movie went along the writers responsible for the plot seemed incapable of making any ending spectacular. The twist was that my home girl Halle was actually the person who killed her own friend…

Fight club
“What ever happens in fight club, stays in fight club”, this is a very popular movie obviously, but even when I decided to watch it, I didn’t expect what was going to happen. The movie is normal for maybe just 20 minutes then everything goes psychologically haywire. I am not going to spoil this one for those who haven’t watched it.
