Many have heard that Nas has a new record company called “The Jones Experience” and it is being called a boutique label. I don’t know about you, but I am a bit worried as to how successful the label is going to be (remember ill will records), so I have constructed a list of the 5 things that Nas should do to make this label successful.

5.) Commitment:
This time around Nas needs to have a lot more commitment; Nas has had ventures before but because of the lack of commitment they have all gone the way of the quail, instinct. If Nas was to actually put large amount of effort on this label it could see success

4.) Innovation:
Nas and his team should try not to just operate this label on a traditional model; clearly the record label is going through some turmoil, so he should really consider changing up a whole plan by incorporating different methods of sales and revenue, hint! Internet.

3.) Regularly Sign and Establish Talent:
I hope he doesn’t follow with what he did with ill will records, because from the “It was written” era, he had the label but he did not bring out any new artist. This time around he should focus on A&R and try establishing potential artists on a regular basis.

2.) Consistent:
This kind of ties in with commitment, but being consistent will develop a foundation for this record label and lead it to a path of growth and development. If Nas is consistent with this label, it will instil commitment with the staff that would be attached to this project.

1.) Provide Quality Music:
I don’t think this will be hard for Nas, but it’s still very important. I know he has stated that this a boutique label, and with that, it can be more flexible and focus on artist development. If Nas can focus getting artist that have quality music but marketable (that is necessary) i.e.: Kanye West, Common…then a name can be built for this label.
