I am a big fan of movies, and not just the escapism aspect of it, but the whole artistic expression thing. This factor of my enjoyment makes me a natural critic of films and with that being said, sitting down and watching a horrible movie usually feels like the coldest part of hell.

I first got into movies because I was intrigued by creative plots, exceptional acting abilities, and even that impressive special effects junk, but now as I watch movies I notice that they are now made up of mostly sequels, remakes, or adaptations. Now with these types of movies the special effects are rarely never penalized but the creativity of the plot is usually minimized (because it is not original) which usually affects the acting and the dialog. (Screenplay is under strict guidelines).

This situation doesn’t effect all movies, there have been a few great SRAs (Sequel, Remake, or Adaptation) such as; Transformers, the Bourne series, Lord the Rings, Time to A Kill, and a few more. I will admit that the formula works, we all fall prey to are memories, for example when I heard that transformers was going to be a movie I was amp’d for a whole year before the movie actually came out. That is great and all but nothing can escape the theory of “when things go up, they must come down” which is effecting the music industry right now, because at the end of the day there is only so much refurbished shit people can take.

Not too long ago there were problems with filling movie seats because of the lack of creativity, and with the issue of piracy it made things a lot more difficult, but it looks as if producers are going into SRA overdrive, but there only so many stories, books, and old movies out there..The time is going to come where…I dare not say….PEOPLE WILL NEED TO THINK SOME NEW SHIT UP…I know freaky eh, but that’s why movie writers get movie writing salaries.
