We are back with another chapter of the ongoing Good Music segment. This time we take it to Toronto, let us surpass the mainstream acts and the more socially accepted artists, and dive into the realm of the underground music scene.  Toronto’s underground music scene is a force to be reckoned with. The city does however make the mistake of supporting peers other than supporting GOOD music. This Good Music segment will cover a group whose styles combine Hip Hop with Electro Pop, Jazz and many other genres.

Meet The Airplane Boys, comprised of Beck Motley & Bon Voyage and their live band No Stone. These guys have been putting in some serious work after the release of their first single titled ” Outerspace” (see video below). I got the chance to see them perform live at Suba nightclub and I was instantly impressed. Their sound was unique yet familiar in a sense. When listening to their music its almost as if listening to N.E.R.D  with a hint of Theophilus London.

Being different in the music industry has always been risky especially in an industry riddled with “prototype” hip hop artists. Instead of being at all the events in Toronto and making sure to solidify their status within the city they decided to look past the city and focus on their music. This enabled them to build a pretty large fan base organically.

The Airplane Boys have yet to be signed to any label but show no signs of slowing down. With the attention they have been getting over in the U.S it is a matter of time before Toronto follows suit and pays attention to them. Until then this was just another segment of GOOD Music tailored to showcase music that we think deserves your attention.
