If anyone ever told me that Tom Hanks could play a deadly henchman for a mob, I would have laughed and laughed very hard, but Tom played this character in this movie and played it exceptional well. The title, Road To Perdition, sounds like an early 1900 love drama, but don’t let that deceive you because to me this is one of my favourite mob movies ever.

The movie is about Michael Sullivan (played by Tom) who works as a hit man for crime boss John Rooney. Sullivan views Rooney as a father figure, however after his son is witness to one of his murders, Michael finds himself on the run trying to save the life of his son and at the same time looking for revenge on those who wronged him. Jude Law co stars as an insane hit man hired to kill Sullivan.

This movie is beautiful, which is an odd thing to say about a gritty mob movie, but it is because of how each and every scene is created. Each shot is composed so well that it automatically sets a strong mood and atmosphere before the acting even begins, you get really caught up.

Now the reason this is one of my favourite mob movies is because, even though the story is drenched in violence, drama, and tragedy, we are able to see a reality with the forming relationship with a father in son which is extremely moving, in the other words the acting is definitely on point.
