Her name is Sarah Louise Heath Palin and she is the governor of Alaska and the presumptive Republican vice president nominee for the 2008 United States presidential election.

On his 72nd birthday, Republican Presidential nominee John McCain announced today that Mrs. Palin will be his running mate for the election. He commended her for being a “Uniter” and a “Fighter” and said that after all the good work she’s put in for the state Alaska it was pretty simple to decide who to pick as his second in command.

Now here’s my thing: clearly McCain is using the fact that Palin is a woman to persuade the 18 million other women who previously supported Hillary Clinton to vote for the Republican party, which I can’t hate him for. He’s playing this game extremely well and Barack Obama will definitely have to keep that mind. There’s this huge debate going on right now about experience and if Obama has enough for the job, but clearly the events of today balance that debate out a little bit because Palin has only been Governor for not even 2 years yet.

Regardless, this election is shaping to be one of the most important presidential elections in the history of not only America, but dare I say the world. History will definitely be made this November and the 2008 election will soon become the precedent for elections to come.
