This question of the week is more of a rebuttal to the claims of Jay-Z being in the “Occult”. Ever since the “On To The Next One” video aired, commotion about Jay supposedly being in a secret society has erupted yet again. The loudest voice has been the folks at Vigilante Citizen who have analyzed the entire video symbol by symbol (same dudes who did the breakdown of the Run This Town video).
According to Vigilante Citizen;
“Artists at the top level of the music industry are chosen by the elite (the common name for them is Illuminati). The initiation of the artists guarantees them success and exposure, at the cost of become vessels of Illuminati symbolism and personal sacrifice”….(Read the rest)
A good read but it should serve as just that. The article is filled with suspected references to the occult through subliminal symbols, but a thorough read of the article reveals those references as just facts to random imagery that have no real relations.
An example;
“The background in the scene above incorporates strategically placed lights with Jay-Z standing right in front of them, making it appear as if he has a halo around his head. The halo is used in iconic imagery to identify holy or sacred figures.”
A halo around someone’s head is not a connection to Illuminati but narcissism. The article contains many more of these vague symbols that can be possibly interpreted as loose connections. The writer also makes the assumption that all secret societies (past and present) are under one umbrella which is not the case (I’m no expert, but I know quite a bit).
Apart from the symbols, the overall goal makes absolutely no sense. “The initiation of the artists guarantees them success and exposure, at the cost of become vessels of Illuminati symbolism”. What would the “elite” want with an artist of small wealth and limited music success? (Jay-z is only worth a fraction of other wealthy individuals and a platinum selling album does not mean it’s been heard by everyone) and even if that’s their MO, why would they make their supposed “symbols” so obvious? (Again think billionaires).
I am not writing this article because I’m a Jay stan (he’s just okay to me..really), but rather to initiate thought so people don’t blindly believe what they don’t know (…because you don’t understand, doesn’t mean it’s true). No offense to VC, but I hate false prophecy, it turns off people’s ability to use their own cognitive skills.
Me personally, I don’t think ANYTHING is just as it seems..especially in politics. But, logic is still necessary in the absence of concrete facts.
However, if you disagree..Vote your opinion and leave a comment. It will be interesting to see other people’s opinions.

Great videos that use a stronger foundation of facts to prove the case of elite, Illuminati, etc…

you are severely underrating jay z’s influence when you seem to limit his impact to his record sales. the real influence of jay-z is in the thousands of spins he gets at radio, his ability to sell out arenas, etc. he is heard and seen globally on a level few rappers ever reach.
his cultural impact is far larger than his record sales.
if you wanted to induct a rap artist into your secret society, then your top prospects in 2010 would be jay, wayne and kanye.
whether or not this actually occurred can neither be proved nor disproved conclusively, but to deny the cultural impact of jay-z is to be willfully blind.
