So the big news in movies is that the Men In Black series might be making a comeback, though I am not convinced it really needs to be reprised. However, the news got me thinking about movie franchises that should comeback, whether it be through a complete remake with new actors or a fresh story. I have scrambled through my brain, and I have come up with my top 7 franchises (movies with sequels or trilogies or more) that should return.
7.) Superman

Yes everyone said the reboot to superman sucked, and I agree, however I think the movie set up a good franchise, because the only thing that really sucked was the story and the villain. The movie looked good, Superman looked great (no homo) and the action sequences (the little that were there) looked wonderful. They need to just jump write into “Death Of Superman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_of_Superman ” story, and stop the bullsh*t.
6.) Alien

I’m not talking about the GOD AWFUL alien vs. Predator series, I am referring to when Sigourney Weaver was kicking ass and taking names. I think they need to reboot this series with a new actress so a new generation can experience the great James Cameron series.
5.) Nightmare On Elm Street

Speak of the devil, there is already a reboot on the way with a completely new Freddy Kruger. I can’t wait, because this was one of the movies that really freaked me out along with Child’s Play, so I am interested to see what direction they take. I just hope they don’t cast Teens who are just going to scream, we don’t need a second bloody valentines 3D.
4.) Back To The Future

It would be cool to see a brand new DeLorean and a fresh dude playing Marty McFly. Frankly though, I would not be surprised if this title was in the works, simply because Hollywood is in a throwback phase. However, there are only a handful of good directors and producers (ughh Bryan Singer..wack) so there will be a high rate of failure.
3.) Matrix

Matrix is still way too new for it to be rebooted, but it would be cool if the series continued, possibly with new characters and fresh story revolving around the peace between man and machine. I give it a few years until studios are completely out of ideas, then we will hear news of a new movie heading to production.
2.) Jason Bourne

Anyone who is a frequent visitor of Liveagl.com knows that I am a huge Bourne fan, and a new movie would definitely get my socks rocking. Luckily my wishful thinking has realized itself, and I am going to be getting a sequel to Bourne Ultimatum. If you haven’t watched any of the Bourne’s…SHAME ON YOUR ASS…JUST SHAME..
1.) Godfather

Imagine a new Michael Corleone, now that is something that will break box office records. We just have to wait until a studio really picks up on that and make the appropriate moves to capitalize. Godfather is a classic, and yes there is a chance that some newbie director will mess it up, but I think that’s a chance that should be taken..frankly.

Where does this idea come from that The Death of Superman is some classic story that needs to be told over and over again? The ‘graphic novel’ was just a bunch of slopped together shit designed to kill a year’s worth of comics continuity so that the shitty Lois and Clark show could catch up and they could do the Superman Marries Lois story as a synergistic media event. it was a piece of shit. And there was nothing at all redeeming about Superman Returns. Bad bad bad, all the way around.
Here is my heated, in-depth review of Superman Returns from after I first saw it: http://sean-ward.livejournal.com/53071.html#cutid1
