Michael Jackson is the King of Pop and always will be for most music lovers around the world-old or young. Jackson is an American entertainer, popular as a solo artist throughout the 80s and 90s, and well into the 21st century. He started singing as a young boy in the group, Jackson 5, with his siblings, then embarked on a very successful solo career. Although his life has been littered with controversy, from his extensive amount of obvious plastic surgery, to turmoil with his family, to rumors about his sexual orientation and his love for children, Jackson still manages to be one of the most well-known pop singers in history.

Sadly it hurts us over here at LiveaGL to announce that Michael Jackson has passed away at the age of 50. He died after being taken to a hospital today, June 25, 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest, according to multiple reports including the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press and CNN.  Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles, California, this afternoon Pacific time.

“Michael Jackson made culture accept a person of color,” the Rev. Al Sharpton said. “To say an ‘icon’ would only give these young people in Harlem a fraction of what he was. He was a historic figure that people will measure music and the industry by.”
